Finding our Christmas Joy

Summary

In uncertainty, the only certain thing we can reach out for is the joy found in Jesus. Will you reach for him this Christmas?

Christmas should be full of joy

One of my favourite marches is Christmas Joy. I have been playing since my Young People’s Band days, for over forty years! But I never tire of it. When I became a Bandmaster, I often opened a carol service or carol concert with it, as it gets the feet tapping and puts a smile on people’s faces.

Christmas should be full of joy. Is yours? Sometimes, the stresses and strains of modern life can crowd out our Christmas joy. Some of us are going through difficult circumstances and may find it difficult to find joy in everything. Joy is a choice, but we might need God’s power to help us make that choice. How do we hold on to God’s promise of joy? By relying on God’s power to help us. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the power that can bring us beauty for ashes, joy instead of grief, and turn our despair into praise.

The only certain place to find joy is in Jesus

In uncertainty, the only certain thing we can reach out for is the joy found in Jesus. Will you reach for him this Christmas?

Advent reminds us that our hope is sure. We have peace with God, and his Messiah is coming to put everything right. We can choose to respond with joy. This week, in Battle Drill devotionals, we look at ways in which we can respond to God’s love and goodness. There’s a new episode of Battle Drill Devotional every Monday through Friday.

You can listen to an audio of these devotionals every week. Head to https://battledrilldevotional.podbean.com for more details and to subscribe to the podcast wherever you get your podcasts or you can catch up with us on the Battlefield Resources Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/battlefieldresources. Like the page and get a notification when a new episode drops or sign up to be sent an email – http://eepurl.com/ipKWzY. You can also watch a video version of each devotional at www.youtube.com/@RobWestwoodPayne.
