In Luke 2:8-12, we read about the shepherds who were visited by an angel and received the news of Jesus’ birth. This extraordinary event reminds us of the greatest gift ever given to humanity – the gift of Jesus Christ.

God’s gift of Jesus was not forced upon us. Instead, he desires us to willingly give ourselves to him. Just as the shepherds had a choice to accept or reject the angel’s message, we too have a choice to accept or reject Jesus.

This Christmas, let us reflect on the significance of giving ourselves to Jesus. It is not about material possessions or extravagant gestures, but about surrendering our hearts and lives to him. Jesus wants us to offer him the gift of our whole being.

When we give ourselves to Jesus, we acknowledge his lordship in our lives. We recognise that he is the Saviour, the Messiah, and the Lord. We invite him to dwell in our hearts and guide us in every aspect of our lives.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us choose to give him the best gift we can offer – our complete devotion and commitment. This gift is not limited to Christmas but is a lifelong journey of faith and obedience.
