Proverbs 31:10-31 is not a job description, but a beautiful poem that reveals the character of a woman of valour. These verses show us how we should approach our tasks and responsibilities, emphasising the importance of character over deeds.

Praising A Woman of Valour

Within this poem, there is only one command, directed towards men: “Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise” (Proverbs 31:31). When we encounter a woman who exemplifies the values and characteristics listed in Proverbs 31, we are called to honour and praise her. This is a command that applies to all of us, regardless of gender.

A Call to Women

Although the command is not explicitly stated, I believe there is an instruction here for women as well: be a woman of valour. Valour is not about what you do, but about the way you do it. Whether you are an office worker, nurse, teacher, in ministry, retired, rich, poor, single, married, or childless, embrace the call to exhibit strong godly character in all that you do.

Choosing to Live with Valour

Valour is a choice that each of us can make, regardless of our circumstances. It is your character that defines you, not just what you do. By choosing to live with valour, we can bring glory to God and inspire others to do the same.

Remember, being a woman of valour is not limited to gender; it is a call for all of us to live with integrity, strength, and godly character. Let us honour and praise those who exemplify these qualities, and strive to be women and men of valour ourselves.
