Love and Unity in the Church: Summary
It’s important to show love and unity in the church. It’s a key element of God’s church, and it’s something that all Christians should strive for.
Introduction
Love is something we all want to feel, but few people realise they need. We need it to be shown to us and others in order to feel the fullness of who God created us to be as human beings.
Embrace Diversity
The church is a diverse community and we should embrace that diversity. We are made up of different people with different gifts and talents, from different backgrounds, beliefs and cultures. We need to celebrate each other’s differences as well as our similarities.
Love People
The Bible commands us to love people as God loves people. To love people as Jesus loved people. We are to love others by putting their needs before ours; it’s what we do for our family and friends, so it should be no different when it comes to our brothers and sisters in Christ (1 John 3).
Show Up and Be Present
Make a commitment to attend church. And when you are at church, be present during the meeting and not distracted by what other people are doing, your phone or other devices. Engage with others around you who are there to worship God too!
Love is an Action Word
Love is an action word. Love is not a feeling, it’s a verb. It’s something you do, not something you feel.
If we want to show love in our churches and communities, we need to make sure that we’re loving each other with actions instead of just words or feelings. As Christians, this should come naturally because we know how much God loves us and wants us all together as one body (the church).
