Introduction

Have you ever wondered where our spiritual fervour comes from? What fuels our passion for following Jesus and sharing our faith with others? The answer lies in the power that raised Jesus from the dead.

The Foundation of Our Faith

In Romans 12:9-13, the apostle Paul reminds us of the foundation of our faith and the source of our spiritual fervour. He writes, “Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.”

What is Spiritual Fervour? It Rests on the Truth of the Empty Tomb

Our faith and credibility as followers of Jesus rest on the truth of the empty tomb. The resurrection of Jesus means that he is indeed the Son of God, just as he said he was. It means that his word and his promises can be trusted. It means that the sacrifice he made for our sins on the cross was acceptable to God. Because of his resurrection, we can be sure that we will be truly forgiven by God.

The Holy Spirit is Still Living and Active

Furthermore, the resurrection of Jesus means that our Saviour is still living and active in our lives and in the world. He is here to fuel our spiritual fervour through the power of his Holy Spirit. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead now resides in us as believers. It empowers us to live out our faith with passion and conviction.

Tell Others About the Power in Your Life

When we share our faith with others, it is important not to forget to mention the power behind our spiritual fervour. It is not just our own enthusiasm or personal conviction. It is the power of the resurrection, the power that conquered death and gives us hope for eternal life with God.

As we reflect on the power behind our spiritual fervour, let us ask ourselves: How can we better tap into the power of the resurrection in our daily lives? How can we allow the Holy Spirit to fuel our passion for following Jesus and sharing his love with others?

Let us remember that our spiritual fervour is not based on mere human effort or emotions. It is rooted in the power that raised Jesus from the dead. May we continue to seek and rely on that power as we live out our faith and share the hope we have in Christ.
