Summary

Resist the temptation to want more, focus on all you have and appreciate it.

I can resist anything except temptation.

Oscar Wilde

We know what he means, don’t we? If there are chocolate biscuits in the fridge, I can resist them, but I can’t resist the temptation to eat them!

God’s guidelines are for our good

The devil tries to tempt us into believing that God is strict, stingy, and selfish. Surely, if he was as good as he says he is, then God would allow us the freedom to do whatever we want? But rather than focusing on what God forbids, we would do better to remember all the blessings and promises he has given us. When we focus on all we have and thank God for it, we find it easier to resist the temptation to want more.

True freedom comes from sticking to God’s guidelines

True freedom comes from sticking to God’s guidelines. His restrictions are for our good. They help us avoid evil and the disastrous consequences that follow.

Don’t listen to Satan’s temptations. And if you really can’t resist the chocolate biscuits in the fridge? Don’t keep any in there!

This week in Battle Drill devotionals we look at temptation and how to resist it.

There’s a new episode of Battle Drill Devotional every Monday through Friday.
