Summary

The only way to be saved from our sins is through faith in Christ alone. We can’t do anything to earn our own salvation, nor can we earn God’s mercy. Salvation is a free gift from God.

The Wonderful Thing About Gifts

It was my birthday yesterday (Friday) – rather a big one! I received some lovely gifts, and I did nothing to earn them (unless you think reaching 50 is hard work!). That’s what so wonderful about a gift – they’re not something we earn or deserve, they are freely given.

We Are Saved by Grace Through Faith

We are saved by grace through faith. And faith does not come from us – it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8). Salvation is also a free gift given to us by God’s mercy and grace alone (Romans 5:15), which means that we cannot earn it through good works or religious rituals.

We Cannot Earn Our Salvation

We can’t earn salvation through good works or obedience to the orders and regulations. Our attempts at doing so are imperfect and inadequate, but even if they weren’t, our efforts would still be insufficient. God has revealed His plan for our salvation through His Son Jesus Christ and it is by grace alone – not because of anything we do or don’t do – that we are saved by God’s mercy alone.

No Conditions Attached!

In order for us to receive God’s free gift of eternal life (salvation), all we have to do is believe in Christ as our Lord and Savior–and nothing more! The Bible says: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). There are no conditions attached; just believe!

Faith in Christ Alone

The only way to be saved from our sins is through faith in Christ alone. We can’t do anything to earn our own salvation, nor can we earn God’s mercy. Salvation is a free gift from God, given out of His love for us and His desire for us to spend eternity with Him. This means that you don’t have to do anything else except believe what Jesus did on the cross: that He took all of your sins upon Himself so that they would be punished by Him instead of being held against you for ever.

God’s Unmerited Favour

This is why it’s called “grace” – because it isn’t something we deserve or earn; it’s completely unmerited favour from God! When we receive this gift of grace through faith in Christ alone, it changes everything about our lives because now we have hope instead of despair; peace instead of fear and joy instead sadness.

God’s grace is sufficient for us all. That’s the best birthday gift I can receive!

During Battle Drill devotionals this week, Paul reminds us we are saved by God through faith alone. In what ways can we strengthen our faith?
