Summary

God’s Kingdom is based on relationships, on connection. You and I are connected with God and we are connected with each other. And part of that friendship – that being a family – is talking, it’s good conversation.

Talking for England!

In my first appointment, we had a lovely lady who became a Salvationist late in life, after the loss of her husband. She was so enthusiastic and poured herself into everything she did. As well as coming to meetings and several activities during the week, she also helped with our Parent and Toddler Club. And she could talk! People would remark how she could talk for England!

Sadly, there came a time when Doreen suffered a fall which led to problems with her hip and excruciating sciatica. She was confined at home for months. I used to visit her as often as I could, knowing that for someone like Doreen, isolation would be devastating. She needed to be around people. She needed to talk!

God’s Kingdom is Based on Relationships

I’ve realised as I looked at the Bible passage for Sunday, that Doreen was on to something! There will be a lot of talking in heaven. Why? Because God’s Kingdom is based on relationships, on connection. You and I are connected with God and we are connected with each other. And part of that friendship – that being a family – is talking, it’s good conversation.

Many of us will meet other Christians at some point this week. I know I might not need to – but I encourage you to talk! Have good, godly conversations. Remember that God joins you in those conversations. Include him too. And as we meet together, we will catch a glimpse of heaven.

In Battle Drill devotionals this week we examine a true mountaintop experience and consider what Jesus’ divinity means for us today.

There’s a new episode of Battle Drill Devotional every Monday through Friday.
