Summary

A human relationship withers if we don’t invest in it. The same is true of our relationship with God. What ways might you invest in life with your heavenly Father this year?

The Scarcity Mindset

Many people are cursed by a “scarcity mindset”. In other words, they are people who often feel there is not enough to go round. There’s not enough money. There’s not enough time. I don’t have enough energy. Someone else is getting attention, and I’m not. That person has more friends than me. And so on. We feel out of control and so we overcompensate. We overeat, we overwork, we “blow our own trumpets” and we overvalue what others think of us. This is not how life should be!

Jesus’ Superabundance Mindset

Jesus comes to us with a “superabundance mindset”. His Father is so generous, there is always more than enough to go round. More than we can ever imagine or hope for. Or as Jesus puts it in our Bible reading today, a “real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of” (John 10:10 MSG). God’s love has no limits. He wants to meet all our needs.

Investing in our Relationship with God

Instead of worrying about there not being enough, we need to invest in this superabundant life. A human relationship withers if we don’t invest in it. The same is true of our relationship with God. What ways might you invest in life with your heavenly Father this year?

This week on Battle Drill devotionals, we explore what Jesus’ words that “I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of” (John 10:10 MSG) might mean for us today.

There’s a new episode of Battle Drill Devotional every Monday through Friday.
