The Power Of Servant Leadership: The Message For The King

Summary

As King Charles makes his pledges before God this weekend, let’s take the opportunity to pledge again to obey and serve God in all the ways we can.

Celebrating the Coronation

This weekend we celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III. It promises to be a weekend full of the pomp and circumstance that the British do so well. There will be splendid ceremonial dress, beautiful Crown jewels, thousands of military marching on parade, exquisite music, and more.

Servant Leadership

It’s all a far cry from the way Jesus viewed leadership. He turned the world’s idea of leadership on its head. Instead of status, position, and prestige, Jesus said that real leadership is serving others. He came to earth to serve others and give his life away, and he calls his followers to do the same. A real leader has a servant’s heart. They appreciate those around them and they’re not above any job that needs doing. They just get on with it. Each of us can look for ways we can help others.

A Great Example of Servant Leadership

Actually, despite all the pomp and circumstance of this weekend, I am sure King Charles III will follow his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in seeking to be both a servant of God and a servant of the people. She was a great Christian example to us all, and we can pray that King Charles will become the same in days to come.

As King Charles makes his pledges before God this weekend, let’s take the opportunity to pledge again to obey and serve God in all the ways we can.

As many in the United Kingdom and around the world enjoy watching the Coronation of King Charles III, in the midst of all the pomp and circumstance, this week in Battle Drill Devotionals, we are reminded Jesus described leadership from a new perspective – of serving people.

There’s a new episode of Battle Drill Devotional every Monday through Friday. You can pick a copy of this week’s up from Reception.
