Read Psalms 22:1-31. The global COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is going to impact our future in similar ways to world wars and other global crises. We have a duty to tell our children about God’s work amongst in these days.
As yet unborn generations are relying on our faithfulness to teach our children about God and his loving concern for us. As we teach them about the Lord, so we will encourage them to tell their children about him too.
If we fail to witness about God and his rescuing work amongst us to our children, then we are in danger of breaking the chain of God’s influence in the generations to come, a chain that reaches across thousands of years as one generation faithfully told of God to the next generation.
The gathered church family can help in this, of course. They can help to teach our children the truths of the Bible, whether it be in Sunday School, Kids’ Church, Messy Church or many other ways of teaching about God these days. But they must hear it from us too. Their Bible knowledge must be reinforced at home.
If you have children, what are you telling them about God’s loving work during this global pandemic, in particular? And if you don’t have children, think about those children under your influence – grandchildren, nieces and nephews, godchildren, neighbours’ children, children at church. What could you tell them about God in the days ahead?
Let’s ensure our children hear about our loving, faithful God, who gives hope and victory even in the most difficult circumstances.
THINK IT OVER
Think about the following:
oHow would you explain your faith in God to a small child? Who could you share that testimony with today?
