Read 2 Corinthians 5:11-21. Once you begin to look at your emotional health, it can be disconcerting and frightening. Going beneath the surface of our lives can feel like doing a tightrope walk without a safety net!
However, God’s good news is our safety net. The Bible tells us that we are sinful and flawed – more than most of us ever care to admit – but at the same time we are more accepted and loved by God than we can ever imagine. We are so loved by God that he sent Jesus to live and die in our place.
God’s grace is available to us, and it is entirely separate from anything we try and do for him. As I often say – because it needs repeating! – there is nothing you can do that will make God love you more and nothing you’ve done that will make him love you less.
We don’t have to prove we’re good. We don’t have to show we’re loveable. We don’t have to demonstrate that we’re valuable to God. We don’t even have to be right all the time! God knows about the 90 percent. of our icebergs lying beneath the surface, and he totally and utterly loves us in Christ anyway.
THINK IT OVER
Think about the following:
•How does knowing that God loves you unconditionally help you to deal with some of the more difficult aspects of who you are?
