If you want to know who you’re becoming, then take a look at your friends. We most resemble those we spend the most time with.
If you want to be wise, then make sure your friends are wise. Proverbs says if you surround yourself with friends who are wise – those who are encouraging, who build you up, and hold you accountable – then you’ll be wise. But hang around with fools and you’ll soon find yourself in trouble.
Spiritual maturity always occurs in community. Wisdom requires community, because it’s really about love. Wisdom proves itself in relationships. Wise friends love you for who you are but also want to encourage you to become the person God made you to be.
Friends help grow your wisdom by offering their own godly wisdom.
THINK IT OVER
Think about the following:
•How are your friends encouraging you in spiritual maturity and godly wisdom?
