Summary
As Christians, we can learn how to deal with stress and anxiety head on when we know how much our Heavenly Father loves us.
Introduction: Learning How to Deal with Stress and Anxiety
If you’re a Christian, it’s important to remember that God will never leave you or forsake you. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t use some practical advice for coping with stress in our daily lives.
Purposefully Rest in the Lord
Resting in the Lord is a biblical command. God wants us to rest, because it’s good for us. Resting means that you are trusting and depending on God, not your own strength or ability, for everything that matters in life.
Stay Physically Healthy
Eat healthy. Exercise regularly. Get enough sleep and avoid excessive stress, which can lead to fatigue and illness. Make time for relaxation: take a walk, listen to music or read the Bible or other spiritual books in your free time. Even spending time at church can help. Other Christians, who share your faith and values, help build up your confidence as a Christian when dealing with difficult situations in life because we support one another spiritually!
Focus on the Positive Aspects of Your Life
It can be hard to focus on the positive aspects of your life when you’re stressed out and overwhelmed. But it’s important to remember that God has a purpose for everything that happens in our lives, even if we don’t understand it at first. And no matter how bad things may seem, there are always good things going on around us as well.
As you learn how to deal with stress and anxiety, focus on yourself and your own strengths – what does God see in you? What makes him smile? What do people compliment you about when they meet you for the first time? How can these strengths help others through difficult situations or circumstances (or even just make their day brighter)?
Think about other people’s lives too – are there any friends who need encouragement right now? Does someone else have an amazing talent which needs showcasing more often so others can enjoy its beauty as well? Is there someone who could use some cheering up after having been through something difficult recently?
Conclusion
You are a child of God, and he has a purpose for your life. You have been created in His image, and you have been given gifts that can be used to make the world a better place. God wants you to help others; he wants you to serve him with all that is within you.
You may not always see it or understand why things happen as they do, but if we keep our eyes on Jesus, who died so that we might live forever with Him (John 14:6), then we will be able to face any trial or stressor head-on without fear or anxiety because we know how much our heavenly Father loves us!
This week in Battle Drill Devotionals, we focus on how to deal with stress and anxiety through the eyes of Jesus Christ. How did he deal with it, and how might that help us today? Each weekday we share hope and encouragement as we read and study the Bible together.
There’s a new episode of Battle Drill Devotional every Monday through Friday.
